Static Modeling School

Static or geocellular modeling has become an indispensable tool for providing realistic reservoir properties models for input to simulation. However, these models can only be as good as the data input to them and the experience of the modeler driving the software. In this 5 day school, IRT will teach our recommended workflow. We emphasize a solid understanding of the data required to build a quality model including:

  1. establishing your project objectives and a fit for purpose modeling workflow
  2. Data location QC
  3. QC, prepare, analyze, and apply core data
  4. QC, prepare, analyze and apply pressure data
  5. what petrophysical data are required and when to recognize that you have problems
  6. establishing and understanding contacts from pressure data and logs and their implications on layering
  7. preparing fault and horizon data for building your structural and stratigraphic frameworks

We then discuss in detail the key issues in building a quality model including:

  1. Grid design
  2. deciding which facies modeling algorithm is appropriate for your reservoir
  3. petrophysical modeling, trends, and the transformation process
  4. ranking and selecting realizations to assess uncertainty. Many hands on exercises are planned throughout the week to reinforce learning from the lectures

Dynamic Modeling School

Reservoir simulation is an indispensable tool for reservoir management at all stages of reservoir life process including recovery prediction, process design, strategic planning, and decision making. IRT will teach our recommended workflow in this 5 day school. We will show you how to:

  1. make the maximum use of all available data
  2. develop core skills in QC of simulation input/output
  3. learn elements of sensitivity and uncertainty analysis
  4. help you make better forecasts and quantify the confidence interval
  5. learn how the static model (or geocellular model) data are used and incorporated into the reservoir simulator
  6. formulate development and surveillance plans
  7. understand the uses and misuses of simulation studies

Many hands on exercises are planned throughout the week to reinforce learning from the lectures. IRT's integrated workflow will help you increase production and recovery, develop opportunities, and understand uncertainties through better reservoir management.
