Jamin DePrang

SENIOR CONSULTANT - GEOMODELING / GEOLOGY

Mr. DePrang has 23 years exploration and production experience with major operators. He specializes in all aspects of integrated reservoir studies with key emphasis on complex structural modelling, clastic sequence stratigraphy, MPS (Multi-point statistical modelling) and assisted history matching. Mr. DePrang believes in creating realistic geologic fit for purpose models. His experience includes clastic and carbonate reservoirs within the varied structural settings of; Alaska, US Onshore, Deepwater Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, Kazakhstan, Australia (NW Shelf), Malaysia, and Poland.

2016 to Present - Senior Consultant - Geomodeling / Geology
International Reservoir Technologies, Inc. - Lakewood, Colorado

  • Integrated field studies with focus on static modelling; Kuwait
  • Integrated structural and stratigraphic geocellular modeling for Rocky Mountain reservoirs

2014 to 2015 - Malaysia - New Field Deepwater Development - Malikai Project

Secondee Geologist / Geomodeling Specialist to Shell Miri Malaysia:

  • Position involved being imbedded into partner subsurface team to insure optimum execution of development and
  •    depletion strategies for the complex Malikai deepwater field. Key to the role was rebuilding the Malikai geocellular model

    2012 to 2104 - Houston - Subsurface Technology - Geomodeling Specialist

As part of global reservoir technology group specializing in geocellular modeling, role involved:

  • Building and reviewing geomodels for COP's most challenging fields.
  • Dynamic interaction with reservoir simulation group for history matching.
  • Exposure to challenging play types (Unconventional Shale gas and oil, Fractured reservoirs, Complex structural and
  •    stratigraphic reservoirs)

    2009 to 2011 - Aberdeen - New Field Development . Britannia Satellites / Clair

Britannia Satellites lead geologist duties included:

  • Progressing new field development for 2 separate satellite fields operated by COP.
  • Creating integrated geologic scenarios that explored large uncertainty ranges for decisioning further well programs.
  • Working closely with reservoir engineers in assisted history matching.
  • Presenting and influencing partners to invest in new well developments.
  •  Clair Field Geomodeling specialist involved:

  • Assisting Partner Operated Team in evaluating the geologic consistency from operator.
  • Evaluating the complex Clair field fracture and fault model.
  • Creating a Multi-Variate Model using 3D seismic attributes and well fracture analysis to prognose future well locations and
  •    understand current recovery history and mechanism.

    2005 to 2008 - Alaska - Mature Field Development - Kuparuk Field

As Central Processing Facility 2 (CPF2) lead geologist and Kuparuk Geomodel steward in Anchorage, AK, the main job function  was:

  • Progress drilling opportunities to support rotary and CTD rig schedules for both conventional and multi-lateral horizontal wells.
  • Work in collaboration with a multi-discipline team (Geologist, Geophysicist, Production Engineer, Reservoir Engineer and
  •    Drilling Engineer) to identify and optimize economic well candidates.
  • Optimize the fine scale geologic model (largest in COP) for multiple applications for both geologic operations and reservoir
  •    simulation.

    1998 to 2004 - Geoscientist, ExxonMobil (XOM)

    2000 to 2004 - Alaska - New Field Development - Anchorage, AK

As secondee to BP, position involved working in multi-disciplinary team to develop satellite fields on the North Slope of Alaska.  Position entailed:

  • Developing a field-wide integrated sequence stratigraphic framework that was consistent with core, log and seismic data.
  • Coordinating multi-company workshops and reviews to advance the satellite fields from the appraisal to development stage.
  • Integrating the field-wide geologic interpretation into multiple geocelllular models using Roxar's RMS software.
  • Utilizing the geocellular models to create up-scaled reservoir simulation models and volumetrics for the preliminary
  •    development and depletions strategy.

    1999 to 2000 - Angola - Exploration - Houston, TX

Worked on the XOM Operated Angola team. Position involved 3 interrelated projects.

  • Seismic Interpretation of major time horizons linking the XOM operated blocks via 2D and 3D data which was also tied to
  •    regional interpretations and available core.
  • Utilizing major seismic time horizons in generated Block-wide structure maps along with Block-wide reservoir fairway /
  •    architecture maps based on seismic attributes and coherency.
  • Generated Block-wide deep structure prospects below DHI/AVO floor for future potential. Was also part of scoping team to
  •    look at boundary prospects and advise on participation in joint venture drilling activity.

1998 to 1999 - Gulf of Mexico - Mature Field Development - New Orleans, LA

Completed an integrated interpretation of the XOM operated Eugene Island field. Involved log correlation and seismic  interpretation incorporated with reservoir depletion studies. Work resulted in new drilling prospects and successful workovers  targeting bypassed and low resistivity pay. Work also generated potential deep prospects which were added to Near Field  Wildcat inventory.

1997 to 1998 - Geophysical Geologist, Apex, New Orleans, LA

Worked as a geoscientist / geo-technician for small geophysical consulting firm specializing in onshore Gulf of Mexico  properties and prospects. Main responsibility was seismic / geologic interpretation, synthetic generation and montage creation.
